Like the price or not it's a fantastic coin, and I completely agree about the rarity of a 66 Brown. I've never seen one. Edited by USArmyParatrooper 07/26/2007 02:01 am

I cannot get over sellers peddling what they purport to be a $2500 coin with one small image in the auction. I sell $10 items and put several large size images up, only cost $4.95 a month for a host to put images on. If I see only the front of the coin and a small image, I just move along...

The seller is obviously relying on the slab to sell this coin. I'm not interested, either, unless there are good photos of both sides of the coin.

http://www.geocities.com/scottishmo...9dollar2.jpgWhat a sellers image should look like. And when I get around to parting with this lovely, maybe later this summer or early in the fall I will use this image and some photos of it. It will be sold, I got in the doghouse big time for this purchase.

How can they call that BN. As several have pointed out in the past it has to be a post slabbing AT.
Wow nice dollar, Scottishmoney...it still for sale/any others like it?

It will be for sale as soon as I retrieve it from the bank. Believe me, I got in a bunch of trouble with wife-boss for that purchase. So I love the coin, but not enough to keep it anymore.

Well, I followed the seller's other items and found waaaay too many tones. I posted a link in the main and it sparked a huge debate. I would like to see the debate continue, as I think it's a major important issue for our hobby. But I can understand the moderators wanting to keep things calm. Without pointing fingers at anyone in particular, I do think there's a huge problem with savvy people being able to AT coins and have them graded. Such large hoards of neon toned coins are all too common on ebay, and I wish the industry as a whole would bring the problem to light.

I agree completely. However, we're trying a new concept here at Coin Community - we're keeping things civil. One way or the other.

Scottishmoney, If you decide to keep the "wife-boss," and part with the Early Bust, I would be interested in pursuing her (the 1799 Bust Dollar).
That is a great example and excellent photos. I had fun attributing her...
