Now I'm in a heck of a spot. What do I do if I find a coin that I'm ready to outbid a fellow forum member for?

I'll stay out of this one, Errorcoins. I reserve the right to bid against you in the future.

Just curious, what's the coloring all about? Was that done at the mint for collectors?

Not at all. Post-mint, by some greased-ice third-party sleazebag who panders to the unknowing proletariat who believe that it's something special.
