I think I'm going to let that branch cool off a bit. I think I've given up on halves for the time being. about $2k searching only netted me 2 40% and a handful of circulated NIFC. I've talked to a couple different other credit unions and bank branches, and they are very receptive to me buy/dumping as long as it isn't the same coins at the same branch. I've started offering to buy the coin bags and everyone seemed pretty happy about that.

Good idea. Since we are using the old stream metaphor, I try to live by the following: don't "dump" where you "eat"

I cause as little trouble as possible at both order and release(dump) banks, and try to keep a quiet and low profile. At the same time, I refuse to be ashamed of being a coin collector/hunter, and will not take grief from banks. I only do two boxes of halves a week, and that is enough for me. Some crh's seem kinda reckless and greedy by ordering so many boxes its bound to blow up in their faces and possibly louse it up for the rest of us. It's their right to do it, but I hope they please remember their fellow crh's

I might raise a stink, you bank there right? At my CU they charge a fee for non members using the coin machine, but none if you have an account. Ask the manager if he wants your patronage with your accounts. Where I live there are several different CUs, so easy to leave. He might not like to lose a customer, or several if you let him know you'll tell your friends and family why you left.

Josh I would complain but not to the branch manager. I would submit it to the coporate office. You see bank managers make up their own rules according to the 2 banks and 1 credit union that I work with.
I dump $3000 ($2K in halves and $1K in Dimes) to the same credit union. All are in rolls and they do not have an issue.
One of the banks I deal with have a Coin counter machine and have asked me to bring in as much as I like to dump, no problems. This branch does have a account manager that stated to me she found 3200 silver dimes in the machine one time.

Quote: do the math your average finds total cost is face plus 10% of the dump. Then look at the fair market value of the finds vs your total cost. I would gladly pay only 10%, in trade for gasoline costs, wear and tear, and counting machine shorts!

The way things are handled in North America is you punish people via their wallets. I keep my balance at my account at zero all the time. When people start paying fines they usually stop being delinquents after a few. To use an analogy: Narcotics cops go after money most of the time, not drugs. Follow the money... If a place is going to charge you for bringing them business you have to say no at a certain point.
My advice notwithstanding, everyone here gave some pretty good advice. But I like the ¨can I get that in writing?¨ point, I use that frequently.

I've never seen a "dump" machine. Is it taking loose coins? Allfome said "All are in rolls and they do not have an issue." so does it count rolls as well.
When I return coins here they are rolled and bundled in tens or in full boxes. I found that this pleases the tellers since that is the way the hand them out. The only time they turned me away was near the end of a week when I wanted to trade about $700 for toonies, and that was going to run them dry. I backed off for a bit and things are good again.

Well, a little update. This ended up working out really well for me. I started shopping around and not only did I find a couple other CUs that are cool with me dumping, but I also found out a friend of mine works at a different branch of the same CU I started with. This actually expanded my CRH abilities! Not to mention, I found a cu that has a coin machine that charges even members. They said they would sell me the bags out of that machine. That way I know they aren't dumps!
