DVCollector Bedrock of the Community United States 10045 Posts	Posted 04/06/2014 3:18 pm I'm unsure if this was corrosion or possibly planchet defects. Notice how the pitting crosses the E and S in UNITED STATES, affecting strike? But, if it were cleaned up corrosion, I'd expect some discoloration and more widespread surface issues. I'd say struck that way ~AU55. Update--I see this one's on ebay. I wouldn't pay 'full price' for a raw coin with possible issues.
