probably genuine, not a very logical mintage to cointerfit.

Exactly. If this was a 1893-S then I would be skeptical but it doesn't make sense to replicate any 1921.

To basically sum up:
The coin is a .900 fine silver dollar coin ($1) from the US.
It is called the Morgan dollar, after its designer's name.
Your specimen is a circulated (used) one, minted (made) in 1921 in the Denver branch of the US Mint (identifiable by the tiny 'D' above 'DOLLAR' and under the eagle on the back). It is completely legal tender in the US, but a collector will buy that for much more than $1.
