1909-1982 cents are bronze/brass alloy so they are not affected by zinc rot like the 1982-present Zincolns, your cent has a large lamination.

very nice lamination crack this happens when a coin cracks and flakes due to improper mixture. you can also tell because they tend to peel or crack in straight lines
