This one has some problems. What details grade would you give it?

At least VG.
The 5 changes into a 6 and then back to 5!
Go to sleep justin!

but I'm not tired yet!
on a serious note, I have a habit of undergrading new Orleans dimes I've noticed. I forget to take the striking into consideration. After reconsideration I think you are right. the obverse id give a 6 but the reverse a 10 maybe 12 so I guess it about evens out. the corrosion also kind of threw me off on it.
Thanks for pointing it out to me. I still have a decent amount of room for improvement but I feel like I'm getting better every day.

justin, that earns you another 'A!'
The reverse would be F-12 if the corrosion did not hide the other details, but the bow and the corn show nicely.

Definitely VG details. Even with all the putting I can see more details than G.

While I can understand how this one could be considered a vg if not for the problems can anyone understand how this got vg 8?

I don't see the faintest bit of liberty whatsoever and the laurel wreath is 6 at best imo. unlike this one the reverse looks like at best being really generous a 6 would be what id give the reverse as well.
so if they are willing to be so generous because its a key date(which I think they must be in the previous coins case)I could see this getting fine details if slabbed.

justin, the full rim with denticles appearing on both sides are indicative of a VG-8.
However, the total lack of LIBERTY would bother any dime collector.
That the active bidding is strong (10 unique bidders) suggests that price is determining their interest. Better would be spending $500 on a coin with eye appeal.
Even a full good with no major scratches would be a better choice.
A clear case of the holder not matching the coin, and if there is anything that I have tried to teach you is that the coin should be judged on its merits.
No way would reselling this coin be easy.
A definite pass on all counts, not matter how cheap.

I just sent you a PM. READ it and go to the link!
Beautiful Barber dimes to be had, 53 in all.

Well, this is a new wrinkle. Yahoo doesn't allow links anymore?
Expletive deleted.

Good "GOOD" Barber dimes at reasonable prices.
