I just picked up a few coins and this one stands out to me. I'm looking for a grade/value. Thanks!

I agree VF-20

A side note your 1875 20 cent piece is actually an 1875-S.

You made quite a few acquisitions.

Oh thanks, I didn't even see that. Do you know a grade for it?

I'd start another thread for the 1875-S 20 cent piece since it is a different coin.

Thanks for the info, I was thinking it was VF35, can you let me know what makes it grade less?

From our CCF US Coin Facts (left margin US coins & Currency Navigation Bar):

Quote:
Seated Liberty Half Dollar General Grading Standards

G4 Good - Scant rim. LIBERTY on shield worn off. Date and letters readable.

VG8 Very Good - Rim fairly defined, at least three letters in LIBERTY are evident.

F12 Fine - LIBERTY complete, but weak.

VF20 Very Fine - LIBERTY mostly sharp.

EF40 Extremely Fine - LIBERTY entirely sharp. Scroll edges and clasp distinct.

AU50 About Uncirculated - Slight trace of wear on Liberty's breast and knees, head, claws, and wing tops of eagle.

MS60 Uncirculated - No trace of wear. Light blemishes.

MS63 Select Uncirculated - Some distracting contact marks or blemishes in prime focal areas. Luster may be impaired.

From these grading criteria, I grade your coin VF-20.

Nice!
