If your last buy with the mint goes back to 2010 and according to your comments, you plan to buy nothing I wonder what brought you here.

I would agree that celebrating the same theme 10 years later may be a bit much, but I would argue 100 years seems a bit more significant.
The 2010 set in my opinion is different. Celebrating the first official release while the 1911 celebrating the makings of canadian coin history. Both deserving their own mention. ( In my opinion )

Quote: finally, 1911 silver dollar had already been celebrated in 2001. that's nice point. Only after purchasing the 2011 Silver Dollar became aware about 2001 coin. I liked, that there is "ONE" instead of "1". But everyone of us enter to the hobby at the certain time point, and it not always correct and possible to collect also all the previous editions.

The RCM is a great canadian institution and it's kinda sad to see Extremely innappropriate language removed by Staff. We do NOT use that type of language here; mind your manners or we will mind them for you.

he can be here if he wants. maybe he views hoping that something gets released that he has interest in. With regards to not buying anything because of "marketing", while I don't know you, I really don't think that is the case. I think it might be more that you aren't into what they are releasing and not how they are marketing their releases. Maybe you are referring to the overproduction and the greed that is getting to the RCM?

*** Edited by Staff - No that's not appropriate either, there's no reason to mention that *topic* at all here. There are kids here. ***
I dont see why I should "not be here" because I did not buy something in the last 3 years.

I'm sure you're more than welcome. The topic of discussion is Canadian Commemorative and Non-Circulating Legal Tender - NOT "what did you buy from the mint today/this week/This year/Last year etc".
Wherever you 'shop/collect' enjoy the discussions.

Quote: You dont have a coin guide? wow... or you dont read it. The answer is simple: I have it, and use as "phone book" or some "manual": when I want to find something, I go and search for it there. But if I do not aware about something, I just do not care For last 2 years I find the CCF and ebay as the best guide.

wow! people getting all nasty dang!! anyways, the BESTTTTTTTTTT price guide is ebay, I agree with Silveroid. We really need a database, realtime, tied to prices on ebay. IF we had something like that, I think everyone would benefit. Dealers might not like it but the general public would make use of it a lot and hobby dollars would stretch farther. IF I had the time I would love to do such a guide, a joint effort with other hobbyists. I mean, wow, there goes the need to price books,, instead a huge database... I can see it now

Most important - the may is almost here. 2-3 days more, and we will see the new release (MC). And there everyone will decide for himself - to buy highly collectible coins from the Canadian Mint, or spend them on something else. Both options are good.

I've just received the email release with pictures and I've to say that the 2 R.M.S. Empress Of Ireland (silver and silver-plated)coins look quite impressive, very nice. The silver one has a mintage of only 7,000, 3-coin series.

Maaany Eagles. I so desire to own affordable platinum piece and ready to pay the amount asked by RCM, but already for 2-nd release, the 1/10oz pt coin just looks not attractive enough for me. I found the Antique finished coin with limited mintage (5.000) looks interesting. Why it costs 140.....probably this way the mint want to highlight its scarcity and uniqueness. IMO - good coins for "royalists". I usually do not guess well here, but think that this one the quick sold-out candidate. Impossible to get all..
