Well folks, I have seen the coins and I'm afraid (maybe pleased) to say that I will be passing on the May release.
There are too many Eagles, which I don't find very attractive anyway.
Also why are coloured coins taking over?
Lastly the themes don't interest me.
It's sad to see the mint continuing to go in this direction.

Some nice coins but simply too many the grossly over priced and similar coins. My apathy for new RCM products is immeasurable. That stained glass coin is pathetic. Craigdarroch Castle? Never heard of it but IMO the coin does not look much like the stained glass window from the castle. Actually, it doesn't even look like stained glass to me. I'll add, that antique 75th anniversary of the 1st Royal visit, for 140$, looks like a cheap trade token.

Sorry - have to add one more review. This might be the strangest marketing bafflegab the Mint has used yet. 2014 $20 FINE SILVER COIN - RIVER RAPIDS "A Royal Canadian Mint exclusive, this coin features the use of an advanced "Transition Effect" colourization technique used for the first time! This shimmery colour innovation recreates the sparkle and glitter of the waterfall."

The "Glass" looks like enamel. Hope for potential buyers, that in the hands it looks differently. Quote: I'll add, that antique 75th anniversary of the 1st Royal visit, for 140$, looks like a cheap trade token. Correct....but isn't it the first Pure Silver 1oz Antique Finish coin from RCM?

Quote:but isn't it the first Pure Silver 1oz Antique Finish coin from RCM? Could be though they don't mention it being the 1st on the marketing product sheet. "Limited to 5,000 coins worldwide and expertly crafted in 99.99% fine silver and beautifully enhanced with an antique finish usually only seen on medals- - a unique gift celebrating a pivotal moment for Canada and its close relationship with the monarchy." I know they did the 1998 sterling set which they also called 'antique' finished. Regardless, being first doesn't make it any more attractive to me.

I haven't even bothered to look at the list, I just listen to you guys here for what looks nice, especially like animal coins and I have no interest really in nada. The only coins I have bought been coins from last year....the last 2014 RCM coin is this wonderful RP Maple with the Berlin coin show privy that I just absolutely find delightful in its appearance.

I almost pulll the trigger to buy the "antique finish coins", but, 140$ is too expansive, also it's not really a hot topic to buy a coins related to the monarchy, except is you're a fan... I don't think either is gonna go up in value... The rest is not interesting, except for the RSS... I'll past for the 3rd months in a row...

I agree about the dozens of eagles ... opening the email it was very "saturated".

I am definitely going to purchase the silver Empress of Ireland coin. If this is indicative of the next two to come, they should make for a very exquisite set.

Thinking about "Under the Maple Tree" 1oz coin - it actually same theme as Maple Canopy, just non colored....could be nice "center piece" in the 5 coins set.

@Koin Hunter: Good for you! That's exactly the way one should build a collection - with coins they like! I received my catalog in the mail today, but it did not include any of the new bald eagle coins. I did see two of them listed on ebay - both were designed by Claudio D'Angelo, the same artist who designed last year's Bald Eagle coins. I'm looking forward to seeing all of them tomorrow.
