So, a few minutes ago I changed my ebay ID to zxcccxz13 because my old ID contained my first name and the initial of my last name (Kinda stupid to use that in the first place but it was the suggested ID by ebay when I made the account).

As of now I haven't actually sold anything on ebay nor listed as such. Although I did have a few smooth CCF sales in the past month and am considering selling off some of my collection starting June.

Would a potential buyer see my ID change and back off an auction or buy-it-now? Currently my rating stands at 18 points (20 purchases) with 3 points of feedback coming in.

Thoughts?

Because of the low amount of feedbacks you have in total I would say no, wouldnt put me off.

I think the lack of feedback would put me off more, not sure I would buy anything substantial from someone with only 20 or so feedbacks.

Just offer a return when you go to sell. A return policy would make me feel a whole lot better buying from someone.

To quote Shakespeare's famous saying.... "what's in a name?"....

On ebay people don't care what your name is, I doubt if anyone would even notice it, much less will remember it.. IMHO the only thing that matters on ebay is your Feedback rating and selling experience. The first thing I look at when considering bidding on an item is the number of feedbacks. I agree with the previous comment, I also would have reservations about buying from sellers with less than 20 feedbacks.

Generic ebay advice. Most people who sell stuff on ebay aren't likely to have crooks want to try to look up their real names so they can find your real-world address and break into your house. People that sell lots of coins on ebay do, however, have that as a concern.

Appreciate the advice. I will offer a return policy. 7 Days for Canadians and 14 Days for US Buyers sound right?
Will also maybe buy a couple of things (<$5 each) to try to get my feedback a bit higher and will offer some items below market value to get the sales going. Perhaps CCF members would want to jump on that.

Offer the ebay hassle-free 14 day return policy, its what I offer, ill take anything back for any reason, no questions asked. but then again, I'm only selling small fry stuff compared to some of you guys but it gives people confidence to buy from you.

Great idea to build up your feedback experience. But its important to have feedback as a seller. Start by selling your smaller and lower value items to accomplish this with minimum risks to you.. This will build up your sales feedback and that will really help your trust with buyers.

Be very careful and try to take the best photographs and provide good detailed descriptions. Do everything possible to avoid any negative feedbacks until you have over 100 because any negative feedback now will be very damaging to your "percentage". ebay is becoming more strict with requiring sellers to maintain a minimum "detailed seller ratings".

In the old days of ebay your ID could be your email address bob@aol.com.

Then ebay used to display the names of the bidders.

Now ebay hides everything.

I think the move is to protect high volume sellers and there shills more than to protect the ID of the buyers.

The Nigerians and their fake checks and money orders that started around 2004 seemed to fade out by 2006.

I have a few picture frames full of them.

Members, would selling low priced coins at a very attractive price help zxcccxz?
You know, to gain increased feedback.
I agree that an offer to accept returns is high on my list of a decent ebay seller.

I don't even *look* at a seller's feedback as a buyer. It has no bearing on the person as a seller. And be wary of doing things just to up your feedback count - if somebody sells twenty $10 coins and then offers one worth $500, suspicions will be raised in places like CCF.
