I find that term rather strange, because on Classic Head
Half Cents and large cents Liberty doesn't seem to be wearing a turban. Or a cap at all.
I can see how they labeled the Capped Bust halves as Turban Head--Liberty does seem to be wearing a Turban-like cap, which is a phrygian cap. But again the phrygian cap appears on many, many depictions of Liberty on
US coins, so that makes me wonder why they gave that name specifically to the Caped Bust halves. Probably because the cap was a big part of the bust of Liberty.
