We are just getting started inventorying our coins and one of them is a 1926 US Quarter Eagle (2 1/2 dollar) gold piece. I am a newbie at this, and am wondering what its grade and value may be. I uploaded 2 new pictures, hopefully they will be better in determining the grade and value of this coin. *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***Edited by rayj4051 05/01/2014 3:56 pm

rayj4051 Now that you have bigger pics, the pros will be able to assist you. I just don't know enough about these to be of any assistance. -MV

Larger pictures would help; as it is it's kind of hard to see what condition your coin is in.
For an average-grade (VF-AU) '26 quarter eagle, I'd expect ballpark $250-$350.

I agree with Finn235. But I would say extra fine (xf) to low AU. $250 for XF, $300 for AU.
To me it looks more like low AU with dark spots.

Au 50 is known to have ugly spots on the coin. Many Au50 and even au 55 coins in this genra are actually ugly coins. The better eye appeal is more apparent at au 58. Even MS 60 is usually an ugly coin.

I could look at Indian heads all day. You mentioned new inventory- got any more of these to show?

Thank you all for responding. I really appreciate it. One asked if there are more Indian Heads; and sadly no. No more gold pieces of any denomination.

Great coin. I would go with EF45. I believe their is not enough details on the feathers for an AU grade.
What other types of coins are in your inventory?

EF-45, retail value around $325-340, wholesale around $250-275
