I just received it in the mail ! So now I'm wondering what is the significance of the star in left or right field ? I read somewhere it might be a control mark for minters.
According to RIC (Roman Imperial Coins) which is the reference for Roman coins, this coins is RIC III 236, struck circa 192 AD. L AEL AVREL COMM AVG P FEL/PM TR P XVII IMP VIII COS VII PP, The star could be in either the right or left field, RIC doesn't say if it has any special meaning. Usually they are just control marks.
