1969 D Dime Missing Copper Center - Coin Community Forum

PastorMike New Member United States 6 Posts	Posted 05/10/2014 5:09 pm I am new to all of this and found I enjoy coin roll searching, well today I came across this dime that looks like it was split in two, had the copper band removed and put back together, any ideas what this is. I see some sort of separation, but the focus is not on the coins edge so hard to confirm. My eyes can play tricks, but I think I'm seeing the core in between. A few more pics, obverse and reverse straight on and one at an angle focusing on the coins edge might help. Report this Post to the Staff

Collector-Corner Pillar of the Community 872 Posts	Posted 05/11/2014 12:26 pm could that be a Magicians coin? I wonder it it can be CAREFULLY taken apart if so. John 1 could be onto something. it simply could be acid damage. But I have seen a handful of coins made into magicians coins where the core is an empty shell, and the obverse and reverse separate.
