Here is a 1980 penny I pulled out of my pocket. There seems to be some sort or doubling maybe or something with the 80 in the date. I scanned both sides of the penny even though I do not see anything on the reverse. If there is anything you can let me know I would greatly appreciate it. One last thing I put this in every post. Sorry I could not get better pictures but my condo was burnt down so I do not have a decent camera. I had to put the coin on a scanner and do my best at getting some decent scans. Sorry for this. Thank you.

See that is kind of weird because when I open the post and look at the pictures they actually look pretty decent to me. Maybe they look different to me for some reason. Or I just don't have a good eye yet.

The picture you have is most likely larger and in higher resolution then after you uploaded it, if you crop around the coin before upload or use the weboptimizer you will get best result. I tried to enlarge it by indexing colors not sure if this helps.

Be careful by calling it a penny.. :) the sticklers will pounce on you! It's officially called a 'cent'

I really am not going to comment on this too much without better pictures but I am interested in seeing clearer pics....maybe something.

Yes, a better picture would help. Same idea as Ocala, but played with the pic a bit to drive better details (as possible). PMD to the 8 perhaps and also to the 0. The 0 is interesting as it has that 'oval' appearance. Maybe just flattened?

Since coin is in your hand, check out this listing - the only listing for the 1980-P year; http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/...ie_state=mdsLook for the "underlining" of the letters LIBE in LIBERTY. Especially on the "L"...... The Bottom left corner of the letters in LIBERTY will show a slight notching or a very small half square. Its more visible on the IBE.... If your coin is NOT the same die state as the one on coppercoins, it will not show the same markers. The Date is key here, especially the "80". The coin looks to be in XF shape or so. Look for the "markers" or indicators. The markers help pin the coin to a particular die pair that struck the coin with the issue. Those are the extra photos on the copper coins link above.

Thank you everyone for the info. I will see what I can do about getting a better picture to post on here. I will see if I can borrow a decent camera from a family member to get better ones. Also thank you TC I will make sure to post as a cent instead of penny for now on. Hopefully I will be able to get some better pictures on here by tomorrow. Thank you so much to everyone.

Here is a picture I took with a the Ipad I won at a job fair. I do believe that it is the same cent. To me it kind of looks different then the cent in the first picture. Well I hope this picture helps. Thanks

Hi redhead - I took another shot at blowing up your photo, but it's not going to work. Do you have a loupe to magnify your object? I use my iPhone and 30x loupe and get reasonably decent shots.
