I am new to all of this and found I enjoy coin roll searching, well today I came across this dime that looks like it was split in two, had the copper band removed and put back together, any ideas what this is. The coin is light and thin
Thanks Mike

Would by chance have an odd, grainy pitted appearance on the front, the back or both?

no it seems to be in pretty good shape it looks like the face side has a worn collar and the back side has no collar, could it be a split-planchet

The edge view (not in focus) kind of looked like a coin dipped in acid. Obverse and reverse pics would help.

Sorry PastorMike, I see I didn't actually answer your question about split planchet. I see some sort of separation, but the focus is not on the coins edge so hard to confirm. My eyes can play tricks, but I think I'm seeing the core in between.

A few more pics, obverse and reverse straight on and one at an angle focusing on the coins edge might help.

Front and back pics might help but as of now my thought is acid damage. There is an acid that would eat away at the copper and not the nickel.

could that be a Magicians coin? I wonder it it can be CAREFULLY taken apart if so.
John 1 could be onto something. it simply could be acid damage.

But I have seen a handful of coins made into magicians coins where the core is an empty shell, and the obverse and reverse separate.
One guy I know had a three coins, all Magician's coins, one heads/tails, heads/heads, tails/tails.

From the picture it looks like an acid soaked coin.
