Quote: And this is one of those coins that I feel plain embarrassed about posting next to such lovely examples... Dasalo - As a collector of old copper I always say that there's no such thing as an ugly copper. Your lady served her country well.

Quote: I don't have a 7070 but I have some of the type coins! No worries, the actual album is not required to build a " 7070 United States Type" Collection. (If it is a requirement, I will bow out now...slabs don't fit in the conventional 7070 Ablum.)

This is the better (slightly) of my two Flying Eagle cents, both of which were junk bin finds in the UK - I think this one cost me 5p several years ago! The last '8' looks slightly mis-shapen, which makes me wonder if it's an 8/7 or a doubled die. This is the clearest pic I could get, but boosting the contrast and brightness makes the coin look polished - which it isn't!

On the flying eagle reverse I am just now noticing there appear to be two distinct types. If you look at the two pointed leaves on either side of the berries at the top of the coin (where the wreath comes together), on some the leaves are straight, while on others the leaves curve away from the berries. Take palioguy's photo as an example of the straight variety.
