Quote: I bought one for my niece. She loved ballet as a child but struggled with scoliosis. She's a ballet teacher today. This one definitely has a special meaning. Nice to see that the commemorative coin, issued among huge amount of popular stuff, has found "it's address"

I have read through all the comments and was shocked by the amount of dislike for this design. Although I suspect much of the comments are playful in nature. Maybe it's just because we are located in Winnipeg with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet (RWB) but we are finding no problem pre-selling these coins. Many people are buying multiples, Most people though are telling me that they are for gifts. So they don't seem to appeal to the hard core collectors. I guess to each their own. The real test will be in September when people get them in hand.

I've been informed by my rep it's sold out. I have a really hard time believing this. I literally placed my order minutes after receiving the email so if this is the case then I'm ABSOLUTELY DONE with the RCM. I'm certain this is a ploy to entice more people to jump in and create even more demand. Sickening.

I think your rep is telling the truth the mint is probably sold out of this coin. But you can find them at your local dealer or CP which I find a better way to buy coins now as most of them give you a small discount.

Quote: I've been informed by my rep it's sold out. I assume, that you ordered via the rep. But actually the same was with Glass Frog, when the reps were out of allocations even on the MC release. Most likely, will be available again, or just do it the simple way, and order, like people said through dealer or CP. The Coin Shoppe, as example: http://www.thecoinshoppe.ca/2014-1-...ipeg-ballet/

I think 7500 coins (mintage) is anyway huge just for Ballet fans.

Quote: I think 7500 coins (mintage) is anyway huge just for Ballet fans. Well, 7500 is fairly high for local ballet fans, but then again, the 2001 National ballet of Canada proof silver dollar has a mintage of 89,390. I prefer the latter, because it's a simple, non-frilled, affordable, beautiful coin...

Quote: the 2001 National ballet of Canada proof silver dollar has a mintage of 89,390 But do not forget, that Silver Dollar targeted to the all SD collectors, whatever theme will be. If the RCM were issuing this coin with really low mintage, it would quickly taken away by Ballet fans and limited mintage coin collectors.

Don't get me wrong, I respect all of you ballet lovers. However, is this not the real Canadian ballet? Okay! You wanna fight about it? GO HABS GO!

Let's say, from the practical point of view, both are the same. Nothing from the above, adds a penny to the pocket of average fan. National traditions, history, pride and identity - yes! Yes!! Yes! But do they create something really useful or provide any vital services to the people, or use their abilities for something except the show? Questionable
