Why 10%, not 5% or 15%?

Awaiting stock only means that the 10 percent that they had on hand sold out...maybe...the other 90 percent was shipped to dealers a few weeks ago and or they haven't finished all the 7500 mintage yet.

Where did you get that information?

I'd suggest that since the coin doesn't start shipping for nearly 3 and half months, that they had zero on hand at release; maybe a few proof of concept coins exist, if any. I doubt any dealers have them. They definitely didn't have them 'a few weeks ago'.

It's possible that the mint has sold their allotment but it's more likely that this is a marketing ploy and the coin will come back in stock.

I thought they weren't going to be shipped until September
and don't understand why they would be awaiting stock now unless all the 7500 coins are finished.
Maybe this won't be like the Express of Ireland bouncing between awaiting & in stock ?

It's OK folks. Not to worry!

You haven't missed an opportunity to snag one of these "first of its kind" coins.

As of right now they are still available on the mint's site.

By the way, my sources tell me that the next coin in this series will be the 50th anniversary of Neil Young's first guitar lesson and will feature a music box playing "Rockin' in the Free World"

Ya the 10 percent thing was just a guess as was the dealers have 90 percent of the coins already lol, but in the end you are right , its just another marketing ploy the Mint likes to play.

The Mint keep sending me these "Sell-Out Alert" emails all the time. Which is quite meaningless because while the Mint may be sold out soon, there are plenty of supply at dealers and the Post Office.

I think the coin is very nice. I don't care so much for the music box aspect but that's fine. For that matter, I didn't care much for the Superman plastic boxes either.

Incidentally, the Winnipeg Ballet is not just of local interest. The Ballet not only has an international reputation but also performs regularly across Canada. We thoroughly enjoy going every second year to their Nutcracker performance at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa and are looking forward to seeing its performance of Alice in Wonderland next spring.

2016 is the 50th anniversary for the Men of the Deep, the Cape Breton coal miners choir. They are worth seeing. Perhaps the mint will put out a coin for them.

All that said, I do agree with the general sentiment here that there are simply too many coins coming out, no matter how nice they may be. I wish that the RCM would go back to their quarterly releases with perhaps the odd special coin released intermittently.

Well, the ballet coin would be ok with a nice case for $99 tops. The music box is just too cheesy.

I can see this coin in fake style very soon on Alibaba: silver-plated; just wind up the coin on the music box and it'll play a "Rock the Ballet" tune....and all for only $19.99!

Not my type of coin but I see it growing in value especially if sold on ebay. Still... I have sworn off RCM coins and it's awaiting stock. Atleast the musical box is a unique touch to the usual RCM crap...

I bought one for my niece. She loved ballet as a child but struggled with scoliosis. She's a ballet teacher today. This one definitely has a special meaning.
