GregAlex, thanks for that great bit of history. Having all that information definitely adds to the value of that piece of paper.

Another American manufacturing example: ===== === Excerpt from Mr. Vornbrock's obituary: Otto H. Vornbrock president of the Holtgrewe Vornbrook Furniture Company of St. Louis, Mo. passed away August 11 after an illness of several weeks duration, age 55. Mr. Vornbrock was one of the first to engage in the manufacture of furniture in St Louis. He learned the trade under his father in the old Vornbrock Furniture Company and upon the death of his parent he took charge of the business. In 1898 he was instrumental in organizing the Holtgrewe Vornbrock Furniture Company and in 1902 he bought out the Holtgrewe interest. He has been president of the company for twenty years. His loss is deeply felt by the business fraternity of St Louis as he has always been one of the progressive spirits in his home town. He is survived by the widow a son Ernest a daughter Ella his mother two sisters and a brother

You know me, I just love the vintage machinery displayed on these old checks. Found a real picture; and an actual forum with a bit of history. Enjoy. ====== ===== ==== ===== ===== Link to discussion forum: -->> https://www.smokstak.com/forum/show....php?t=38513

Then, of course, another lumber company, one which sort of preceded the earlier post. =====

This is just another train vignette, however it does happen to be a radar check number also. =====

I'm really digging all this old paper. Where can I look for this type of thing? I see old Post cards etc., at coin shows, but not these items.

Bump, if you don't see them, be bold like me and ASK, then be skeptical of prices. IF you do see them then really be skeptical of prices. ebay has LOTS of them; search for "bank checks" in the "Coins & Paper Money" category. Good Luck and Happy Hunting.

They peaked my interest also. I'd never seen them before stumbling upon this page.

Coinguy, funny you say that; my son "stumbled" over one of my file boxes and started looking through the checks and now he's hooked. I sponsored his membership to the American Society of Check Collectors. Check out the website: www.ascheckcollectors.org/

Not exactly a check, but a deposit receipt from a very well known bank. Besides, the artwork is really nice. =====
