Love the checks, I just acquired a 15 check lot that arrived today. Here are a few.

2 Cool Brewery Checks, one is made out for $45,000 and the other is dated 1882.

A lot of really neat checks. I do not have a lot of these, but here a few.

The one with the fish is really neat.

I also like the DeHaven Bros. check from 1870 for $1606.03 "Payable in Gold" I just can't imagine that today - that is 160 Eagles, one Half Eagle, one Gold Dollar, and I guess three Indian Head cents.

These are all nice, but the fish check is definitely the most intriguing! First one I've ever seen -- and even the embossed cancel is fish-shaped! Great contributions, thanks for posting.

A nice 'territorial' check from New Mexico dated 1890. New Mexico was not granted statedhood until Jan 6, 1912.
