Here's a check that has more history and interesting details than one could relate in a post here on the forum. Just a few: 1. it is a radar check number 2. it has an English 2 pence revenue stamp 3. it has English and American endorsements 4. payee is a very famous English stamp dealer 5. the company is still in business == == == == history link about Whitfield King == http://www.ipswich-lettering.co.uk/...thhouse.html

chequer, awesome. I'm trying to encourage folks to post their checks or notes or whatever. Thanks for yours. AND when you decide to part with the Ike Griffin check I'd certainly like a chance to bid on it.

I've always liked that one. I see there is on listed on ebay right now: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Obsolete-Ba...AOSwEetV-ulOMine has the attached stub too (folded in the scan), # 3083. If you'd like to make a trade, feel free to drop me a message - coins or Canadian cheques. Otherwise, I will let you know when I list it.

For this date draft, I believe the excise tax rate would have been 2 cents per $50 or fraction of $50, which would be 34 cents. Not sure why it's 35 cents ... perhaps they didn't have singles?

Another of those checks with a rather unique vignette; love these type of checks. == == And a link to a little bit of history about the firm. Notice this check is signed by the Treasurer: T.F. Hand,Jr == http://vintagemachinery.org/mfginde...aspx?id=7353==

A magnificent vignette on this old check from Pennsylvania. As an aside notice the seal in the upper left with the Latin motto "Dum Vivimus Bibamus" -- "While we live, Let us live". == == == link to a little history about Reading Brewing Company. http://www2.readingeagle.com/article.aspx?id=54134==

Acquired from a recent Heritage auction. Really like the stamp on reverse where it states "not paid for want of funds". == == ==

Really nice. I'm a sucker for cheques that have a story.
