I'm really surprised at the discussion & the amount of collectors interested in this coin. I wish they had started with one of the other images first. I guess I will have a long wait if it's going to be a yearly offering, as indicated by a prior post. I order from Canada Post, as RCM was awaiting stock. They still haven't arrived, I'm really wondering what the stamp are like, the type of finish giving to them? I just called j&m coins in BC, I had ordered 3 clamshell by phone, and because I wasn't confident of what the guy answering the phone said, I placed an on line order, and indicated talking to a guy on the ph. Now the ph call was placed about 10:00 am Alberta time, and the online order in the evening. This was the first day, they had placed the coin on their website and you could buy 3. Now they tell me they are sold out, and cannot find my order. It's my first time ordering through them, and I'm not impressed. I guess I'll order through the shopping channel, I always get good service!! Plus lately coins come in a cute little heavy cloth money bag, with a drawstring and the logo of Brombergs company. It's a nice added touch. I want to have one of each version. I must say I was surprised at the poor service from J&M coins, they couldn't find my order to look up the status. I'm hoping they will confirm it's cancelled today at my request. They don't seem to be very organize in their over the phone service. Anyone else have mail order dealings with J&M coins?

Quote: Anyone else have mail order dealings with J&M coins? Yes, I bought 2 (ghost bride) from them last week and at the time they showed only 3 in stock, my coins were shipped within a few days , I have bought other coins from them and never had an issue. I have yet to talk to anyone there as I have always received my coin/s which were all ordered through the website.

The ghost bride stamp set version is well done imo. The stamp is cool as it has a hologram on it as well. I haven't opened my packaging yet though because I want to keep the set as mint as possible.

I order from J&M, I've never had any problems, but yes they are very disorganized. Their system needs an over due upgrade. Other then that their good, the staff are friendly enough.

Yes, I did find telephone staff friendly. I had called as soon as the store opened the day they listed the Ghost Bride. The chap I spoke to didn't know anything about the coin. He said, he'd pass it on to the person looking after orders. A this time there was no restrictions to how many you could order. I was told the shipping fee was $10. He took down all my info, including my email & phone number. Then in the evening, not feeling so confident about the previous conversation, I decided to place a web order.
After learning the shopping channel only had 22 left, I called J& M to see how they were doing with my order. I was switched to someone responsible for orders. I was told coin's sold out. I explained I placed an order on the 1st day. They couldn't find a record of my order, and promised to call back. It's been over 3 hrs and no contact. The people answering the phones don't seem to be to knowledgable, it's like they're summer students. J&M coins doesn't seem to be as professional, like the other coin shops, I've dealt with. I chose them, because it was the only place to get the clamshell version at issue. I'm glad to hear others have had good experience with them. Maybe it's just web orders & telephone service needing an upgrade?

I have been to J&M Coins many times and coins form only a part of their business. A large part of their business is in jewellery and foreign exchange. There are a lot of people working there and each person specialize in area. For example, someone may be an expert in Jewellery and Gemstones and another in banknotes. So if you phone in an order you are transferred to someone who specialize in what you want. In fact, J&M is the biggest coin dealer in Greater Vancouver, if not all of BC. I've been to many other coin and stamp shops in Vancouver and those are usually runned by one or two people, usually older men.
I guarantee you there are no summer students working at J&M Coins. The staff are very knowledgeable. The problem may be finding the right one because there are so many working there.

No post for today.... so this one will be great: Thanks to the other forum for update, CA has the " RCM version" coin, limit 2 per customer, only for CAD 34.95 ! In addition: they have 1/2oz rectangular (!) coin-set with King George V (!!) on the obverse in the wood display case. No limits per customer!

Talisman is the worst company ever.

I guess it must really work for them though... mark it up as super expensive, then offer huge discount to sell just a little above retail price! lol

It also saves huge amount of money for the customers, who buy from Talisman for much less, than officially mentioned by them "retail" price.
Just on two "Haunted" coins the savings $100....very impressive.

I have bought coins from Talisman. Their prices are reasonable as long as the mint has the same coin in stock. Their prices go up once it's out of stock.

Quote: Their prices go up once it's out of stock. isn't that against the law in some areas? Just thinking about generators when a storm/loss power etc hit different areas and you couldn't buy any , so the ones who had them put the prices up and some of them got charged I believe. I know its not quite the same thing but still...

Quote: isn't that against the law in some areas? Not for the collectibles. But in general, for the power and the water - against the ethics law. But I familiar some emergency events, where the public transit was shutdown in some area, so the cabs (legal and mostly illegal) charged people 100%-200% extra..... Sure it didn't happen in North America
