well technically the retail price for talisman is not $29.99, thats for mint.ca where its practically unavailable now, so the $99.99 is apparently talisman's retail price and they have it on "sale". As long as these coins sell they can mark it up as much as they feel like, for example look at the gods of olympus ZEUS coin, they have 2 with different serial numbers at $999.99 and $699.99 retail.
Yes look at their Zeus coin. My order for one "disappeared" and instead of just reinstating my order since they did have more they decided to ignore it and list for $XXX.XX. It's a business I get it but then don't take my order.
If the coin was selling at 100 like the dino I wouldn't be surprised if the orders at 35 to 50 share the same fate.
This is an interesting coin to watch, regarding sales in the short time of release. I was looking at ebay sales, 1 in a clamshell sold at $119'with shipping. The next highest was another clamshell for $65 with shipping. Others average around the $40-$45 mark with shipping. Of course not much profit after fees & shipping. Dealers have also increased prices from $35-$50, and limited the quanity. This is something I would of expected from the other designs, which I feel would be more popular with the predominantly male collector population. A ghost bride is a theme, I did not think would resonate with the guys.
I have the coin now, and some how am not really wowed by it! I do however, like the stamps. Don't get me wrong the coin is nice, but not to the point I'd pay $65 with shipping. I just feel something is missing and cannot put my finger on it. Maybe it's because I see the other images, they seem more action oriented. While a ghost bride seems more tragic and static. I think they ruined it for me by showing the other images and I cannot seem to focus on this one. So this coins rise in appeal & price remains a mystery to me!!

If you do a search you will find alot of different sites/news sites etc in regards to this coin , you dont get that with most other new NCLTs, the superman coin was another example of the mint making a news release etc, maybe its the only way they can bring up NCLTs sales, spend more on advertising..
I don't understand why the big news release on this series, I don't really see anything really riviting about it, like the Superman or Prehistoric Creatures series. I would of thought they'd done this sort of news release for their Multi year war Commemerative coin project! I've searched the Internet and the Haunted Canada Series has a ton of articles written about it. Yet other series get a sleepy sort of lauch in comparison. I wonder how they chose which coins get these massive promotions. I really thought they'd do something like this for the Lost Ships Series, as these are historical events.
Hey will they come out with a World's First UFO series? They seem to be starting to appeal to pop culture with some of these new releases.
I was just reflecting how these days; people have money to spend on Frivilous collectables, meaning they're not neccesary to survival. I was thinking of stories of my 83 yr old mother, growing up there was no money to spend on non essentials. They were lucky to get something at Christmas or Easter. Even a kid in the sixties-seventies, we barely spent money on things without a dedicated purpose, and toys & latest gadgets were not overflowing.
Yet today, I spend alot on collectables and my teen son on games & electronics. Things have become so throw away, and it's on to the next new thing. I wonder if the corporations have trained us in consumerism, or we have trained them by our purchase habits. It's really the chicken & egg scenario.

I know much about this subject... The problem would be, what was the first UFO?
But I guess it would have to be a Canadian UFO story of which there are many.. But seeing the government denies anything related to UFOs, I dont see the RCM making a UFO coin series...

Where will it all end?
Ya this is why I "TRY" to only spend money on things that will out last me such as coins, some things are nearly unavoidable to buy such as the computer I am using to type this .
Hard to say when it will end, many factors could cause it to end... some not so pleasant so I wont go into them.
But as long as there are people with money and products to buy it wont end any time soon. Plus when profits trump common sense its a never ending cycle of more more more....
Quote: UFO's would be impossible, since they are fictional, and no pictures exist.
No pictures does not mean they dont exist(there are many pictures by the way)some real some not. Plus there are many reasons why we are told they dont exist but this is a coin forum so I wont get into it...

Good point... Somehow the Mint managed to put the Superman on the coin. Actually, here is the different. We do have Superman's pictures, although not many people have seen him.
Things with no proof of their existence are fiction until proven otherwise, like gods, ghosts, dark matter, aliens, ufos, big foot, free market capitalism, etc.
