Dump Bank Fees

My routine is to sit down with $1,000 in dimes, search and re roll in just a hair over 2 hours.

Fistfull, that's an insane speed, unless all you're looking for is silver. Impressive.


I worked at a credit union, so profit doesn't go toward stock holders since there are none and it is owned by the members. It is actually a non profit. Anyways, the reason we had a 10% fee for people w/o accounts is to make money. We charged business accounts (vending machines for example) 15%. We took rolls at face. Members would be charged a 5% fee. This isn't to make money, well it is but it is to generate some income from a machine that takes constant maintenance and other operating costs in the bank. They're not trying to rip you off, just pay for the machine/it's maintenance. Trust me there is a lot that goes wrong with them.

I myself would never exchange coin for under face. I also worked there and never get charged a fee. There are other ways to get out of fees depending on your standing with the credit union too.

my local Walmart have self-serve check out lanes where you can probably dump as many coins as you need without the charge up to the check out total...its probably not as fast as a coin counter but whatever... hey its a free service...they even take halves too
