bobbyhelmet Pillar of the Community United Kingdom 2838 Posts	Posted 06/16/2014 07:27 am No beauty contest winners here but I have just managed to buy a die match for one of my 'common' Maximian coins, not an easy task! The over extended stroke on the first 'M' in 'Maximian' is the most obvious area to see the match. Not too sure about the reverse yet but I think it looks OK an matches, I only received the second coin (on the right) this morning so it may clean a little. I find it incredible to think that these two coins could have been produced on the same day 1720 years ago. Here is a third match I found online while surfing a while back. Its by far the best of the three but sadly it is not mine and was sold at a well known auction house a few years ago. Has anybody got or do they look for die matches in certain coins? I found one, I think, of a Gallienus I have, but didn't buy it because of the price. I may have photos of it though. I'll see if I can find them.
