I'll put my dealer hat on for a moment. While I do indeed have Customers, and even one co-worker, that loves toners, MOST of my customers prefer blast white. I'll sell 30 blast white coins for each toner.

Having said that, I understand it is an individual preference.

I say "fad", in that I think the premiums attached to some toners are because there are more collectors who are chasing Toners because they are popular right now. I'm not talking about those who genuinely love toners. I speak of those who see the profit and/or investment potential. For them it is a fad.

Toning: Supply vs Demand will produce some weird price situations.

While I was a small MERCHANT I was governed by the principle of highest-fastest-most consistent ROI.

I'm beginning to really like the toned Morgans. Here's one I bought last night on The Bay. See anything interesting about the reverse? PG

I went for the Top 100 VAM-19A. The toning remains to be determined when in hand...PG

I think that coins with incredibly strong and colorful toning are definitely a fad, but I believe that coins with some subtle attractive toning are not a fad, I'll take a coin with subtle color over a white one, but one with insane rainbow toning? I think I'll pass.

PG, I am familiar with the VAM and I'd think it's a nice pick, but I, personally, don't buy problem coins. That one will most likely need a dip, hopefully it's salvageable.

Here's one of my freshest pickups;
