Can someone confirm if this is an authentic coin vs a forgery. I've had it for over 30yrs, now wondering if so.

Better pictures than these are really needed, but even so, the edge looks awfully neat and nice, which makes me a little suspicious. How about weighing it?

Although we will need the weight in order to have a better idea, if you've had this coin since the mid-1980s, it is more likely to be either real or at least a much better older counterfeit. Cheap Chinese fakes didn't start looking remotely good until about 10-15 years ago.

Using a letter scale...an ounce or there about. It's not accurate. I'll have to get a scale specifically for coins.

Well, you do have an overlap on the edge - is that the only such spot?

For weighing it, go to any pawn, coin, or even jewelry shop, they'll usually do that for you as a courtesy.

I think the main concern ought to be with regard to contemporary counterfeits or restrikes, either of which could be quite old.

AMB, please post a photo of the edge of the coin that is on the opposite side from edge picture #2.

You have a coin that looks like it's from Potosi, Bolivia and I would like to know if the edge design was made from two parallel dies.

It's a strong indicator that your coin is genuine.

I do not like dentils at the edge which does not mean a bad 8 reales. Also too many different overlaps. Potosi ceca (mint) also was a little bit special/different comparing with Mexico or Lima. Probably weight is around 26,8 gr. Could you confirm?
