Just to get the thread back on track...... I showed this coin ($200 4 $200) to my better half on the mint's site and she loves it. After zooming in on it I have come round to liking it as well. So I ordered one and whenever it comes next fall, I will be turning the coin to show off the Moose's head right side up. As far as all the naysayers go... Well... P.S. The spellchecker is still missing. What happened to it? (Please somebody tell me...)

so my only question is, is it legal tender? I will assume so... If it is, then you really can't ever get hurt by it, right?

NuMoosematist, are you talking about forum's spellchecker? If so, then forget about it. Install spellchecker for your browser.

Managed to get one for issue. And I actually do not need more.
When it will be release, the dealers and Canada Post will sell it for more than $200, this is for sure.

My bank manager at RBC told me I could cash it in anytime I want...just bring it in and it would take a couple minutes. I can't see myself ever having to do it but I was just curious after all the talk here on CCF. So I would say it is legal tender.

Yes mts. It's the forum's spellchecker that has mysteriously disappeared.
What gets me is nobody seems to care. Sob...
Now as far as redeeming one's $20, $50, $100, & soon to be $200 coins for their face value, I think the argument has dragged on here for far too long.
It's clear to me that if I wanted to go to a bank and turn them in for cash, I would be able to even if I had be insistent and persistent with an uninformed employee.

I ordered one, and to me no matter what people say, this is a safe investment, the fact that first of all, I got this for $198, with 1% cashback, then this basically means $198 less in my bank, I am a science student and do not have a financial background, and not large amounts of money to invest, if I compare it to TD savings acccount, even the $2 I saved covers for like 2+ years of interest I would earn. Also although it is hard to redeem these at banks, its not impossible. and there is a CHANCE these will go above issue price. Also this to me means $198 less in spending money, or else I tend to spend money unnecessarily, these $X for $X coins might not grow in value, but they have surely saved me from spending lots of money.

Legal tender is never liquidated, it is tendered. Your very use of the term belies your lack of conviction.
The $20 coins I have are listed on the market forum, and are 2x Canoe, Polar Bear, Reindeer.
