Yeah, if you like die cracks Shield nickels are the series for you. What is tough is finding one that DOESN'T have die cracks.

That's one "crackerjack" coin! I wonder if anyone's as yet assembled a die crack type set?

What is the history that's referred to here? Is it that 1876 was a centennial year issue?

Uhm... No... They were the first 5c nickels, and they're 150 years old.

I'm trying to do a set of the 1865 reverse die crack coins from no die crack to the one where the Cud begins to form on America. It's a tough thing to find.

These Shield nickels are fantastic mid to late die state coins! Love the little Cud on the second one posted (on the reverse at 9:00). That first nickel sure has a tremendous die crack on it. Wonder how many more coins that die was able to strike before completely self destructing.

Finding one's with die cracks is the easy part as most have them. Finding a sharply struck pristine coin with no defects might take a little searching.
