Someone bid on a coin on my ebay. It's a $500 item and it's been three days since the auction closed and they haven't paid yet. I decided to Google the phone number supplied and this came up:

http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-718-553-8740

Looks like this number is associated to an address where there have been lots of people scammed. Looks to be a freight forwarder or something...

My question is, if this guy ever pays, would you guys still go through with the transaction or would you cancel it immediately just to be safe? Are there any repercussions for my ebay rating to just cancel it?

Thanks in advance!!

If you suspect a scam, cancel transaction. Better safe than sorry. If you decide to go through with it, make sure the package is sent secured, insured and tracked.

I'd wait a couple of more days. You could also call ebay and examine your options. If they pay, just make sure you cover yourself with the shipping as zxcccxz stated. I'd also open a case for an unpaid item as soon as possible. In the mean time you can also send them a message and ask if they plan to pay soon.

I would cancel the transaction if at all possible, even if they end up paying for it. To me $500 is worth much more than a negative feedback. Plus with all the ebay horror stories I have heard about ebay siding with the buyer I would defiantly avoid it. I don't sell a lot on ebay, and it's been a while since I have sold anything. I have only had one return (not coin related) and was afraid I wouldn't get back what I sent, or it wouldn't be in the same condition I sent it. Plus I do like you and investigate who I am selling to. If a scammer like this popped up I would have flipped out lol.
