Just so I can learn, my grandfather had this in his collection until a week ago when he sent me all his world coins. He has been a collector for well over 50 years. NumisRob Bedrock of the Community United Kingdom 18014 Posts	Posted 07/30/2014 2:19 pm I think this is a contemporary forgery - the 1775 date was apparently the most widely counterfeited. For comparison, I am pretty sure this is a genuine 1773 halfpenny - the portrait of George III and figure of Britannia are in much higher relief. Sorry about the green blob on the obverse!
