Hey I'm new to the forum, but I just got lucky while working as a teller. Some older lady brought in like $550 in coin to deposit into her account. I realized that many of them were silver so I bought them all. Among them I found a couple of SLQ. One of them is a type 1 and I need to know if I struck gold or just silver basically.

darn, I was thinking it was bc the lack of the second hair. oh well, all in all I got like 15 rolls of silver quarters (7 SLQ...6 type 2) and 10 rolls of silver dimes for face value. oh well, I guess ill just get melt value for them when silver goes back up
thanks for the speedy replies

Any key dates or better dates among them? Anyway, that's quite a silver hoard

Nice find, and I am sure someone will post the extremely helpful 1916/17 diagnostic diagrams, but in this case, the rivets are way to defined to be a 1916.

Yeah I'm digging it that they brought them in. The lady was like 90+ Years old and had them rolled up for decades I'm sure. Her neighbor was "helping her" roll coins and found them so they deposited them all....i dont feel bad tho bc that lady had over 300k in her bank account that she deposited the money into. I got lucky even finding them bc I thought one of the rolls was short so I opened it and counted how many were in there. Most of them are in pretty good shape too. Id say fine-extra fine on most of them. Quarter ranging from 1936-1964 (with a couple SLQ) and some Buffalo nickles and Mercury dimes too. All in all I got offered 3400 for melt value but I think I'm going to try to get more bc of the condition they are in. *** Edited by Staff - Please Review the rules that you agreed to when you registered. ***

So it's okay to rip her off because she's got $300k, good to know.

I didnt rip her off....she deposited the money on her own accord. Its not my job to tell her "hey this is worth more in silver than face value". If it was anyone else than me, those coins would have just been handed back out into circulation when the next person asked for a roll or quarters....but when I saw how much money she had, it made me not worry about it at all honestly. Its not like I was thinking "how can I screw this lady over" or anything. She wanted to make a deposit and I let her. Then I went through the rest of them and found all the silver
