Sorry if my last post offended anyone. I see it was edited as I made a comment I should have kept to myself. It was a very long day filled with worry and hate and I kinda vented on here. I couldn't sleep Monday night as I was so distraught I let this happen. I'm sure my grandfather would have been disappointed if he knew I was foolish and left a known thief scumbag alone around the coins. And the only reason they were out is because I am still going though them to find out what is even here. I was separating the different coins into smaller boxes of each type. Some of the boxes are no bigger then a shoe box. I had a random box of graded and ungraded coins on the desk that contained a few gold coins as well as others. That is the box he took. Those coins were just brought to my local coin shop last week. A few in there I just got back from the TPG (as you guys refer to them). Actually, I think I posted a photo of one or two of them in other forums. It was only 10-12 coins that he took, but they were rare. Ill post the list when they are in my possession again. I remember one was a $20 gold, one was that crazy VAM Morgan dollar, one was 1887 o Morgan in ms64, a few other proof morgans and I don't know the names of the other coins. Thank God bob from the local coin shop recognized the one coin and called me. I prob wouldn't have known for hours or days that they were missing. What upsets me the most is if this guy was in financial trouble I would have helped. He didn't have to steal or conjure some elaborate scenario as to why he felt he was entitled to portions of a deal he had nothing to do with. Simply because you knew the vendor? And believe it or not, yes, I do feel terrible. Not for him but for his wife and kids. The children do not deserve to be without a father and hus wife doesn't need to deal with the embarrassment of having a thief for a husband. He was employed by me for 5 years. In that time I gave him promotions when others should have gotten them because he had small children. And this is how I am repaid? By stealing? That us why I made the comments I did and I apologize again if I offended or insulted anyone in here. Including the staff if CCF. Even though I meant my closing statement in the previous post, I should not of posted it

Im sitting at the station now. Police said he posted bond through a bondsman? Our court date is the end of the month. They also showed me the box they recovered from fedex. It was going to AZ to a supposed cousin. It didt have my 2 gold coins, but jewelery as originally stated. Thats prob stolen too. So I imagine ill get it back after court. I hired a lawyer just in case.

Some jurisdictions will photograph the evidence and return most of it to the owner before trial. They may hang on to a couple of the easiest to identify pieces until after the trial. It is really up to your district attorney as to what their policy happens to be. If the guy cops a plea bargain, pays restitution you should get your stuff back even quicker.
The missing gold coins probably went to a pawn shop or a "we buy gold" place. Part of any plea bargain the guy cuts should include "where are the missing gold coins?".
Your lawyer can help you navigate this part of the legal game and help protect your rights.
You are already coming out better than most people this happens too. At least you know where most of your stuff is!

Are the unrecovered $20 gold pieces key dates worth tens of thousands that he may have just sold to a pawn shop for scrap?

so you are a coin dealer? Aren't the one who started out here with a "collection" you had inherited but didn't know anything about them?

Like I said before. Baseball bat+ Kneecaps = immediate recovery of goods. NO lawyers NO Courts and NO waiting for your own property. IF a problem develops, return armed with a shotgun

Stampvirgin, I am not a coin dealer. I am exactly what my first post refers to. A guy who inherited a collection and who is slowly learning. UPDATE. Around 3am, someone through a brick through my living room window. I wonder who that could have been. Police can not do anything as there is no proof. Uhg Im actually going to text him and ask him to meet me. I simply want to tell him that the problem is with me, not with my family. And if I have to spend 10 min a day for the rest of my life to ruin him I will. I'm not sitting back feeling sorry anymore. I dont think the gold coins were anything special. Maybe around 1500 each. I think I have a pic of one of them. And after thinking a little, I think 2 smaller gold coins are missing too. I kind of remember seeing them in that box too. But I'm not certain.

Considering the pending litigation..... this.... Quote: Im actually going to text him and ask him to meet me. I simply want to tell him that the problem is with me, not with my family sounds like a terrible idea.....imho.

He seems more than happy to dig his own hole. Do not get yourself into trouble. Someone suggested a restraining order.....I would pursue one.
