I search all denominations, and I got skunked on nickels, dimes, quarters, and halves. I was feeling really discouraged, and I started opening up the pennies. I wasn't doing so good in the beginning, only about 6 wheats, and on the third to last roll, I see a rather dingy, dinged up coin. I picked it up, and to my surprise, it was an 1898 indian head!
It wasn't in perfect condition, but at least it filled a hole in my whitman! Keep up the good hunt people, they're still out there!

Its really a treat to find old odd coins while searching the penny rolls. There are not only Indian head pennies still findable but there are a lot for foreign coin findable in these rolls. I've found coins from about 20 countries that are the same size as our penny.

Its a lucky day for me when I do find these coins.

Saturday afternoon I wrote that it is a matter of numbers. The more you search the odds are that you going to find interesting things. Then lightening struck this morning. I just found an 1903 Indian Head cent.

Since I haven't found one in awhile, my first inclination upon seeing it was that I had a Canadian cent. When the realization of what I had finally sunk in, I was very happy.

My son thought the same thing until he started reading aloud - "United States...." His eyes popped wide open. Not Canadian that time!
