Ok, I admit, this is a story of a find I made several years ago now, but I feel like it's still worth sharing:

When I worked at a local Credit Union, I got to know several of the tellers, and some of them found out that I had an interest in coins. However, one days, one of the tellers who didn't even know about my interest came to my office with a couple of old clear plastic rolls of Jefferson nickels. "Somebody traded in a lot of these rolls, but none of us can get them open." The plastic had shrank over the years and the screw-on caps, which had also been taped, were almost impossible to remove.

I helped her work on one until we finally got it open, and inside were 40 BU 1960 Jefferson nickels. In total, there were probably 8 rolls left that had not already been opened and disbursed by the tellers. I bought those, but decided to ask if there were any other coins that they had put back

Pointing at the teller on the end, one of them said, "I think she has some dimes that the same person brought in. She's had them forever..." Naturally, thinking there might be some silver involved, I was intrigued.

She pulled out two bundles of dimes with a total of 13 rolls. To my AMAZEMENT, each was a full roll of Roosies, and none was minted after about 1959 To sweeten the pot even more, FOUR of the rolls were original bank-rolled un-opened 1952s and 1953s.

They couldn't remember who brought this hoard in, only that it was an older lady who's son had helped her go through her late husband's estate and sell off his valuable coins. "They sold all of his better coins, and her son told her to take these to the Credit Union and cash them in since they weren't worth anything."

I paid her $65 for 13 rolls of silver Roosies, gave them an extra $20 and told them to treat themselves to something special for lunch, and went home feeling like the luckiest guy on the planet!

Regrettably, I sold all of the silver (wish I had kept a roll or two of the OBW), but I still have the BU Jefferson nickels, all 1960-P. Any ideas what I should do with those? Doesn't look like they are selling for much of a premium as a roll, and I don't have the patience to sell them $1 at a time on ebay.

Wow that is simply amazing. I would love to have BU coins from that time as they would all surely be upgrades.
