I am helping a friend with some identification work for some foreign coins that he has purchased. I'm not very knowledgeable with coins from Japan so I was looking to see if I identified the following Yen coin correctly:

I am identifying this as Y#28a.1, year 18 (1885)with counterstamp Gin left.

Does this seem correct?

Yes, you are right. This is a Y#28a.1 Yen Yr.18 (1885) with Gin countermark.
