I do not believe this coin is correctly attributed and am surprise that it is bid up to what it's at. Hope the reserve is higher then anyone will be bidding.

I am with you on this one. The rest of his stuff is pretty run of the mil with hyped descriptions on a lot of the large cents. Anyone willing to pay this kind of dough should insist on the coin being certified .

There is something wrong with this 1858 8/5.
The 8 is not the right shape---the upper loop is too uniform---the "ears" are not pronounced.Catalog shows different shapes for each 8.
The 5 has a different shape than the catalog .
I think the " ears" have been modified by punching.
If it grades VF30 --- $4000.00 per Charton

phew---Reserve not met.
The marker mentioned is a A/A of Canada on the obverse. Charlton.
