Artido,
8/3 or 8/5?
I am not sure if there is a 8/5 known
Devlec, I think yours is the Wide circle 8s with a 8 (8/3
I guess Brian did not mention anything? old slab?

here is my only 1888. there are way too many variants to get more (at least for now)
Have been talking for some time about someone doing the Silver nickels. BUT who?
the other forum does not care much about them.Unless it is Large Cents, Queen Victoria, it gets very little, if any attention. At least that is what my perception is. I am a member there but have not posted in a very, very long time.

That's right,..Brian (I would expect) did all of mine (showing here) in the late 90's and made no mention on this 88.
I asked here about the ball in the 8 on my 1888 because of it's (almost detached) round shape. It must be a 8/3 after all. Thanks..

Hey guys. Anybody going to CoinExpo this weekend? I'll have all my 5 cent silvers there on display (and for sale). I'll have a table there. I have some other nice ones that I haven't shown yet.

I've got most of the past dates, just not in high grades. I've got a nice '93, '94, and a beautiful '00round and '00 narrow that I'll post next week when I get back.

47P7..all are welcome here...really I just like to see the many that are out there.

In a past post here,..I did ask for past dates if there were any. That will always be the case seeing as I'm sure that some of us won't be here on every available day,..me included..

tfred,..I'm looking forward to whatever you have to post..it's all good..!!

..and we'll also have a lot of fun showing our OO's I'm sure..

Great stuff..!! Isn't it interesting how many of these different dates have the first 8 with the same 3 inside the loop.

I've also noticed on so many of these past years that the obverses have the top of the "C" in CANADA doubled or repunched in exactly the same way.. The focus isn't perfect across the whole coin,..so I added another view..

Was it done in the matrix or was the same die used over and over again..?

Here's my 89..with the usual 8 over 3 and something happening at the bottom of the 9...repunched maybe..?.
....and of course the doubled "C" in CANADA.

viper..thanks for your 89,..but if it was mine,.

...I'd soak it in a warm soapy dish solution for a while and then take a soft toothbrush to it ..and softly remove all of the grunge in the fine details.

It wouldn't hurt the coin in any way..and it could be that there are some hidden details in the date..etc..

Thanks DEVLEC! Most of mine are all somewhat brownish dark like that. Probably toning through the years except only a few that you can tell that someone before I got these tried to dip them or something. I believe there was to much toning and to me it kind of ruined them. maybe I should try to just give them a mild wash like you said.

Thanks DEVLEC
