Thanks Mr. MG..great pics again.. and a very interesting CANADA . My obv legend is also in bad shape.. Was that because the dies were chipping away?..or because all were just badly repunched? ..and of course..very interesting repunching of the "0" in the date. ...and a nice repunched "C" in VICTORIA..showing in the upper left corner of the bottom pic.. . . .

Hi All, I enjoy checking out your coins and all of You have nice collections I have several silver 5 cent pieces, Victoria, Edward, some in very nice condition. I would like to show, but I have just a Lumix camera and I tried to take pics, but they are so small that I cant get a good pic thats readable just blurry. I down loaded them to my PC and try to enlarge them, no good. I can do larger coins easy. They are toned to almost black. I dont want to clean them, as someone I got them from rubbed the date on 1 or 2 with an eraser? Any good help ideas for me Gary

My method is to get clear sharp pics from the camera to the PC.
I then use Picasa3 from Google to straighten, crop and resize to perfection..
Good luck with yours ,..It would be nice to see them here..

I hope it is ok to change the actual subject for a second and ask for your opinion. I have an opportunity to purchase this 1875 5 cent piece. obviously it is high grade. But, what grade do you guys honestly think it is, AS A MINIMUM with ICCS or PCGS? and what would you, assuming you could afford it, pay for it? Your input will have a great influence on my decision to buy, or not to buy. on the other hand, if one of you would be interested, contact me and I would step back. unfortunately, this image is the only one I do have. thank you all for your input.

I would love to help,..but I haven't purchased a 5 cent silver since the 80's. (BTW..they weren't cheap then)
That 1875 SD is very tough and this is a great one.
Those pics are not the best and the difference in price between a 58 or a 60 or even up to a 63 (which could be what we're easily looking at here) would be staggering.)
Being off in colour in these supplied pics makes me worry that it might have been dipped a long time ago and that affects the overall appeal.
At these prices,.."you have to view the coin in hand"..You want to tilt the coin in light to better view the fields and overall surfaces.
As artdio noted, the d/c in the "C" of CANADA would be a strong marker here..
Are you able to give us a hint of the "ballpark" starting price? .
