What Does Full Steps Mean? Is It 5 Or 6.......or 5.5?

Sometimes the price guides aren't very descriptive and only designate FS. Is there a "normal" when talking about a garden variety Full Step nickel? Thanks. Ed Report this Post to the Staff

If your going to be serious about Jefferson nickels I would suggest getting some Books ... One is the Whitman RedBook on buffalo/Jefferson nickels. It gives a good break down on which dates are easier to find ... And which are harder, as far as full step coins. Report this Post to the Staff

PCGS will give a 5 Full Step nickel the "FS" designation. NGC will give either a 5FS or a 6FS designation, but their price guide only mentions the 6FS designation. I'm not sure about ANACS, but I have seen an ANACS slad with 5.5FS on it. Clear as mud now Report this Post to the Staff
