Pacific, I am totally with you on this one.
Not only for coins and notes, also for every thing else.
I know many of you want to "STRING ME UP" me now. But do we need Monarchy just as a figure?
remember, we still have our Stephen H. and he has not made it on to ANY COIN, BILL OR STAMP, as far as I am aware of?

@ SPP! You should be the designer & engraver for Charles' reign

I disagree 47P7, the constitutional monarch plays an important role as part of our national heritage. We need that figure represented. And don't get me started on the suggestion of Harper on our money...if that happens, I know what I'll be using to wipe my butt with.

I say lose the Monarchs completely and go with a image of our Fallen Heroes.. Something that show how proud we are of our Soldiers . Police , Firemen , you get the drift.....

By the time the decision makers decided to change the design, worked out how the design should be chosen, designing it, testing it, argueing about which coin would be minted first minting them and finally releasing them old Liz will be gone anway. Then Chucky Cheese ears will change his name to George VII and the whole thing will start again. Sounds like fun, lets do it!

Lets see we could have the likes of Isaac Brock, Tecumseh, Laura Secord, Champlain. We have many choices"........ Dump the monarchy on our coins, stamps, and currency.

Not one of the four you mention Pacificoin would ever have described themselves as Canadian. Brock and Secord were firmly British, Tecumseh strove for an independent Shawnee nation, and Champlain wanted to carve his name in the history of France. We could never arrive at a consensus as to who should appear on the obverse of our coins, look at the continual whining about our newest series of notes.
Let's keep the monarch on our coins for a while yet. It's been a tradition since the founding of our country and we have precious few that have lasted this long even in spite of our relatively short history.

the same could be said about Franklin, Washington , Jefferson and others on US money. Technically they were all British traitors. Time to dump the Queen and All remaining vestiges of British Colonial Rule.

Or, we could restart British Colonial Rule. The world seemed much better then.
