Four unique coins of an extremely popular collectors series. You all are right. Something like that has no possibility of gaining value. Silly to think so.

Even if it did somehow (for some strange, bizarre, and ridiculous reason) happen to lose value, I would still want one for my collection.

NONE. I'm done with Proof and Uncirculated sets from the Mint. I still get some for Christmas presents for others but for me, none.

THIS is the Kennedy product I've been waiting for all year, the four-coin Set!

I plan to order 1 set. I have been waiting for this all year also...

Just the other day a dealer told me not to buy it from the mint but wait for the price to drop on the secondary market. I guess he thinks it will not hold the value. I don't know what to think. I still want it.

The price of $25 for each of these UNIQUE coins is exactly the price I would expect. Will they gain in value? Maybe - probably. Will they lose value? I don't think so. You guys have to remember that these are not bullion coins. They are all specially struck for the collector in mind.

I still think the price is going to drop a bit, Especially if silver drops even farther. You can say it is not a bullion coin, but silver is a big part of its value. That's why the 2 coin clad set was $10 and not $50. I'll gamble and wait a bit. Worst case, I doubt the price is going to go UP anytime soon.

The silver has very little to do with the price. The reason the 2 coin set was only 10 bucks is they were normal strikes except for going back to the original high relief. That is what made them that price. The four coin set is far more than that. And that is what all of you are losing sight of. Does the silver content make a bit of a difference on something like an 1893 Morgan? Not a bit. Now, I am NOT saying these coins will approach that kind of rarity, but the principal is the same. These are not, and will never be, run of the mill silver Kennedys.

The price is not going to drop below issues price, and I say that with confidence. When all the smoke clears, I do not believe the mintages will not even come close to hitting a half million. Likely closer to 300 thousand at the most. I could be wrong, but I dont think so. That will make these keys, if not THE key coins in the series, not counting the gold coin.

This new set is priced based on the whims of the U.S. mint. I don't think there is any comparison to a rare coin that has been priced based on scarcity.

...with Don
I will get one set the first day (28th), try to watch what the mintage will be to decide if I want to order more.

If the mintage is 300k or less, it should be a good
long term buy.

There could be a lot of factors that could make this set go up or down in value.

Quality ... will it be easy .. or hard to get MS/PF 70 coins.

To have a complete set .. will these be coins needed.

Some collectors don't think the 1998 S (silver) matte proof is needed to make a set, what will they think about these four coins?

I think it is a stretch to think that someday these coins will someday trade at or near spot/melt.

The closest we have to these coins is the 1998 S matte proof. After 16 years it trades for much more than bullion.
Of course the mintage will be more for this set, than the 98S ... but it will be low compared to other coins in the series.

Of course this set could end up trading lower that issue price. But how low .. could it go .. $60 .... $80 ..
There will be a point .. if it goes down to .. that any serious collector will buy them up ..

It could also go up .. $125 ... $150 .. would be possible.

If you want the set .. now .. or in the future .. why take the chance ...just buy one now ..

If I can scrape up enough funny money, I'll buy three, which is one for each of my 3 kids.

Dang you guys! I had myself convinced that this was too expensive and now after reading all your comments and looking more closely at the set, I'm thinking Santa might put one in my stocking this year.
