Since people are posting their other candidates, I suppose I could post mine too... not much to look at, sorry Sorry, that's my only photo of the darned thing... suffice to say it does have a reverse too. Don't remember where I put it, however. And of course the dollar... The mintmark is just barely visible (both in hand and on the photo).

Competition? Really? I think someone is being a bit over sensitive here. No one here is going to look down their nose if the best coin in your collection is an MS68 Silver 1976 Kennedy. So completely NOT the intent of the thread. That being said, here are mine. My most valuable is my 1870 CC Seated Liberty dollar. My dad got it from his grandmother, so it has incredible sentimental value. Monetary wise, its in the 1500.00 neighborhood. Then we have my new gold...

Quote: nickelsearcher: Not completely convinced that I am a fan of these 'show me' type threads ...
My humble collecting goals are personal and my nature is not inclined to attempt any competitive discussion with like-minded coin fans. Yet you posted three coins whereas most everyone else posted a single coin. If are not a "fan" of these types of threads then why do you post in them? The OP made no attempt at making this a competitive discussion as each member posting their coin did so as a response to a simple request with no intent of trying to "best" anyone else. As for my most expensive coin well, it is more valuable than some and less expensive than others already posted in this thread.

I also posted three, but that's because I'm actually not sure which of them is the most valuable (and with the recent low silver prices, there's a low-grade 1884 nickel in the running too).

While I enjoy seeing all the great coins, these most valuable/expensive threads just remind me that my most valuable coin (1851 800 Reeded Humbert $50 "slug") spends all its time in the safe deposit box. It was much more enjoyable when it was ungraded and sitting in the box with the rest of the coins.

Mine is a 1922 Peace dollar that may be considered PMD and only worth it's weight, but to me it is priceless as it belonged to my grandmother. My daughter is the care-taker now.

Dave, I love those pieces. I saw that done to a 1928. It may have even been posted here.

Most valuable? 1899-0 Barber dime NGC MS63 I do have a couple unique to PCGS varieties that have no value listed...priceless? Hardly.

Quote: Hopeful that all enjoy the coins in this thread ... and remind themselves that the purpose of the CCF is education ... not completion amongst ourselves.
I do not see this thread having had an air of competitiveness to it all nor did it convey anything but a group of collectors showing off their stables best until the above comment was made. Where I am confident the comments are made without malfeasance, they are irresponsible comments nonetheless as they took the thread to a place where my response is among multiples that now feel a need to protect our ability to want to show each other our collections in as harmless a manner as possible. "Show and Tell" type threads are what the CCF IS all about. How do you think we get education? By showing coins. How do you think we get new ideas and aspirations in our collection goals? By seeing glorious looking pieces of Numismatics held by others. I'm sorry to even have had to write this response but I felt compelled. I am not sure that the commenter articulated what he was feeling at the time he wrote that because on the surface it reads way to far out of left field for where this thread was created from and where it was headed. Perhaps the commenter was hesitant to show $15,000 in just three coins and felt it so out of character for why he collects that he tried to convey those feelings by prefacing his wares with the statements he did.
