Cleaning Marks On An 1890-CC Morgan

Paul Bulgerin Pillar of the Community United States 3098 Posts	Posted 11/01/2014 5:33 pm I saw this 1890-CC Morgan on ebay. Are the marks on the lower obverse from a brush or some sort of cleaning? There are no similar marks on the reverse. I am assuming they are not natural. I know we'll never know, but why clean just a portion of one side of a coin like this? That's what stumps me. Was there a spot or some toning there? I'd love to know.
