It should really be called the reverse of the coin.The obverse has the head of the reigning monarch (in the cases of Spain,Belgium,Netherlands,Luxembourg,& the Vatican City) or a symbol representative of the country,
such as the oak leaves,the Brandenburg Gate & eagle on the German Euro coins,& the harp on the Euro coins from Ireland.
