This.. isn't the way ebay is supposed to work. It's the seller's responsibility to put items up with a starting price they are comfortable with receiving if it doesn't go any higher.
If he accepts, you know that he lied to you - and I sure wouldn't want to deal with someone like that, no matter how good of a deal I thought I was getting.
He has not yet replied, except for returning my money I sent him via paypal. How could that have happened? I never gave consent for him to cancel my order!
But I just negged him. His rating dropped to 96% now.
One confused seller. Lists $10 face of quarters for $10. Doesn't sell. Relists for $9. Doesn't sell. Relists for $9 and it does sell. Backs out. Makes no sense to me as he also lost that cleaver sale. I'd much rather have $200 than an old cleaver.
I'm sure this has taught him a valuable lesson about opening bids. Try to work something out but if you can't find another listing and place your bid. Sorry, but sometimes things like that happen for both buyers and sellers.
