He now says item is stolen. I replied whether I could buy the item if I paid more money and if I could see the police report.

I think he just doesn't want to give you his coins for that low. First, I would suggest getting the police report just to make certain. Second, if he can't provide it, then file a case against him.

I wouldn't get so worked up over such a small item... I would highly doubt someone would file a police report on an $8 item

I spent so much time finding this item. I would really like to add it to my auction at this good deal. I swear I can never buy the same or similar thing for the price I paid. Moreover, I don't like how the seller is violating ebay policy to his advantage and to my detriment.

Quote:Moreover, I don't like how the seller is violating ebay policy to his advantage and to my detriment. Get used to it, because as long as ebay has the buyers back, sellers are forced to do what ever they can. Technically this isn't against ebay policy, frowned upon maybe, but not a violation. Sellers have the right and ability to pull the item at any time, even cancel your bid, then block you from rebidding. No different than canceling the transaction after the fact. A right all business owners share, the right to refuse service to anyone. Don't be anyone. So this deal got away, move onto the next one.

Would you want to sell something for less than face value AND pay 5$ to ship it, too? Also throw in some ebay and PayPal fees! It adds up quick. The Seller made a mistake, plain and simple he messed up. I do not condone, or agree with the Seller, but there were better ways to handle this than say it was "stolen". He could've just said I don't want to sell it for less than face. You even offered up more money, too! This is where you have every right to report him as a non performing seller and leave negative feedback. He deserves it! Other than that, not much else you can do. Sorry this happened to you.

It's not against ebay policies to have your items stolen.

I would think that he would make a deal with you rather than deal with the negative feedback
