Hi folks.
here we go again. This is another coin that I have had for ages but not been able to find out much about.
It is a bit worn, seems to be made of copper but may be a Fouree as there is silver plating on it. I don't know much about Fouree's. Most of the plating has worn away but is still visible around the lettering which does not help with it's visibility. See what you all make of it.
Cheers.

If I read it right, the legend on the obverse starts IMPCMAVRE meaning it would be an issue of Marcus Aurelius.
The reverse legend seems to start VI...VIC.PIX.
In my opinion the coin looks suspicious.

It does look a little odd. Barbarian?

Its a fouree core of Severus Alexander, the legend reading IMP C M AVR (SEV ALEXAND AVG). You could pobably ind the reverse type through wildwinds.

It appears to be a Roman provincial of either Gordian III based on the size of his nose or Severus Alexander. I tend more to think Severus Alexander. The coin is severely overcleaned, looks like it was done using electrolysis.

Have to agree 'Ben', misread the 'S' for 'E' - can even see the following 'V'.
But still have a problem finding the reverse.

Thanks for all the info. I tend to agree that it is Sev Alexander.
The coin was actually cleaned with lemon juice but it stripped off most of the silver plating.
I suspect that it is a Fouree but have no idea when it was made. Probably not recently
I just wish I hadn't put it in lemon juice and I think it would be better off with no plating at all mow.
If anyone has any idea how old it is I would be grateful as it will probably go onto ebay. Someone may want it.
Thanks to everyone for their help. You guys are the best.
